I love grid systems

As a designer I love order. As such I fully embrace grids for layout. I discovered a while ago a grid system called the 960GS system for creating web pages. it can be found at http://960.gs. The nice thing about it is that it works in all the the major browsers such as IE7 and above, FireFox and web kit browsers. I do not think IE6 is supported unless you use some hacks but lets face it, IE6 is dead. I am sure the .net campaign to kill it helped a bit. Microsoft doesn't even support it anymore. The 960 GS is so effective and popular that even major website are using it. such as sony music and Durpal.

I have decided to blog about 960 GS right now because I will be using it for a future project for a class I am taking.

I forgot

I forgot I had this blog, that is until I had a class that required me to create a blog using blogger. I created a second blog for that. It can be found at http://pernack.blogspot.com.

However to update everyone. Things have been very busy for me. I moved to Seattle and I am attending the Art Institute of Seattle to get my BFA in Graphic Design. I am learning a great deal here and now that I remember that I have a blog for design, I am going to use it more. So keep looking for more updates.

I have also rediscovered the fine art side of design. I have been working at Daniel Smith's which for those of you who do not know is a art supply company. They make art supplies such as paints, inks for printmaking, brushes, and all sorts of stuff. I happen to work at the retail store. I have rediscovered my love of printmaking, silk screen, lino, litho, etching, ect. so hopefully I will be sharing some of that art on here too.
